  1. What is Notepad++?

Notepad++ is an updated version of Apple’s original Note Pad desk accessory. Apple’s Note Pad provided 8 independent pages for ideas and notes, and was designed to be a computerized version of the memo pad that’s probably on your desk. A good idea, but they didn’t take it very far. That’s where Notepad++ comes in. Notepad++ gives you 35 pages, and many more features that Apple’s utility does not provide.

  5. IMPORTANT: Just like Apple’s Note Pad, Notepad++ presents you with a “pad” of discrete pages (8 in Apple’s, 35 in ours). Text will NOT flow from page to page. Each page is a complete, self-contained document.

  10. •    Please read the "NotePad++ Help 2.0" document for the user's manual, short-cut command, etc. It also contains various information such as the list of bugs and problems, change history of the v2.X series, etc.

  12. •    Note, whenever you are opening original NotePad++ 1.X document, it will automatically convert to 2.X format. However, the original 1.X pages are left intact, which means that you can still use your old NotePad++ 1.X while using NotePad++ 2.0 at the same time. Refer to "Hidden Features" page in the "NotePad++ Help 2.0".

  14. •    The "NotePad++ Help 2.0" document can only be opened by NotePad++.

NotePad++ Demo v2.0 by Alexander S. Colwell is DEMOWARE and Copyright © 1993-1994. All Rights Reserved Worldwide. NotePad++ Demo v2.0 can be distributed freely through BBSs, users' groups, communications networks, and the like, providing there is no charge except for normal duplication/usage fees. I retain all rights including title and ownership of the “Demo” application. You may not sell, assign or rent to other this “Demo” copy of NotePad++. You may however, give copies of the NotePad++ “Demo” version to legitimate prospective customers.

  46. The “Demo” application will last approximately one month after initial usage. After this point, you will not be able to edit, save, print, or export your text. However, you will be able to view your document as "read-only" mode.

NotePad++ application and desk accessory may not be distributed, sold, or rented in any manner. You may make personal backup copies of NotePad++. You may have multiple copies of NotePad++ on different Macintoshes or servers as long only one person is using it at a time. It is licensed in as "AS IS" condition, without any warranty.

  50. You may not decompile, translate or modify NotePad++ for any reason.

Please keep the NotePad++ Demo v2.0, NotePad++ Help 2.0, NotePad++ v2.0 ReadMe, and NotePad++ v2.0 Installation files bundled together in these distributions. Commercial distribution of NotePad++ Demo v2.0 is granted without special licensing from the author. However, NotePad++ v2.0 application and NotePad++ DA v2.0 (desk accessory) is not to be distributed under any conditions. They must be purchased directly from Alexander S. Colwell.
